Unemployment Drops in Central Massachuestts Metro Areas

Unemployment Falls

The Worcester area recorded a jobless rate of 5.3 percent during July, down from 6.6 percent a year earlier, according to data released today by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development.

The Leominster-Gardner area’s July rate of 6.1 percent was down from 7.5 percent a year earlier, and the Athol area’s rate of 6.7 percent was down from 8.3 percent a year ago, the state reported.
